Bioenergy: a graphic introduction

This graphic novel describes the problems caused by fossil fuels and assesses the contribution that bioenergy can make. It describes six sources of biomass - forestry, waste products of farming, industrial waste and sewage, household biodegrable waste, energy crops and algae. It explains how these are used, and how each incurs a 'carbon debt' as well as providing a 'carbon benefit', and how this balance must be managed. It looks in detail at the problems associated with bioenergy, such as the displacement of food production and impacts on biodiversity and discusses how these can be managed. What sort of energy future do we want, and how will we decide?
